The Sand Ceremony involves the ceremonial pouring of sand from two separate vessels—one representing the bride and the other representing the groom—into a single container, typically conducted after the exchange of vows, rings, or lei.
This ritual symbolizes the union of two lives and the blending of two families. Our officiant provides this component of the ceremony at no additional cost and welcomes participation from children.
Decorative sand-mixing sets are readily available online in a variety of styles. These sets generally consist of two dispenser vases for the sand, a decorative glass vase for the final mixture, and a selection of fine-grained colored sand in multiple hues. We encourage you to select a set that aligns with your preferences and bring it along to the ceremony. Additionally, while you may choose to use beach sand, please be aware that our experience suggests it tends to be coarser than the colored sand typically offered for this purpose, which may affect the flow during the pouring process. Ultimately, the choice is yours.
If you intend to incorporate this ritual, please inform us in advance ideally, on your contract so, we can coordinate with our minister regarding this detail prior to the ceremony.
